Tasting notes
Nose: This is sweet and peaty. At first there’s a mix of campfire wood smoke and vanilla. Underneath there’s a young, but very clean, distillate with a slight fruitiness within. It’s mainly green apples and/or lemon. When it settles there’s a slight tobacco and leather note arriving together with some darker berries. It has a nice balance without compromising the heavy peat punch. This is a great nose overall, anf especially nice for those who love peated whisky.

Mouth: It starts out with a heavy peat cloud. It’s a mix of medicinal and coastal peat. After a few seconds there’s an umami note in the back together with a fresh lemon sour note. It’s still young and rowdy and the lemon in the back has a slight metallic side to it. There are a hints of leather and fruit but the main focus lies on the peat. The oakiness is present and brings vanilla along. It’s at first a mild feeling and over time it slowly becomes spicy. After a few second it becomes quite nice and powerful.

Finish: The finish dampens the sweet notes and brings the medicinal notes up front together with a peppery spicyness. After a second or two, the darker berries are once again detectable and they create balance to the peatiness. There’s also a cinnamon note swimming around. Leather, brine, vanilla and a hint of honey also floats by. The finish is quite long and a lot of the flavours follow along down the line. The oakiness finally takes over and it’s a decent oakiness. It’s a bit too much and lacks depth. This is a great whisky. It’s young and rowdy but has a lot going for it. It’s well made and gives a nice glimpse into what the distillery can produce.

Additional information
This whisky was aged in a mix of ex-bourbon barrels and ex-Oloroso sherry casks. 70 000 bottles were released. It’s unchillfiltered and has natural colour.
