Tasting notes
Nose: This is sweet and sour. At first there’s a mix of honey and malt with a minty overlay. As it settles in the glass vanilla and lemon start to take over. There’s a hint of coconut in the center. It feels very clean and well made. It’s a simple profile but it does its job competently. This is a good nose overall with easily distinguishable parts, but it becomes slightly boring for the explorer.

Mouth: It starts out with a mild peppery spicyness surrounding a sweet honey note in the center. After a few seconds the lemon sourness arrive in the back together with a bitter, nutty note. The maltiness is still in there and there’s a sweet liquorice and a hint of salt as well. It’s a bit more complex in taste which makes it quite interesting.

Finish: The peppery spicyness floats out over the palate and the clean distillate shines through for a second or two. The bitterness returns in the back and the lemon note does so as well, yet muted. There’s a slight grassy note floating around, and maybe a hint of ginger and toffee as well. When the oak comes it brings back the coconut as well as the nuttiness. It’s a nice oakiness and a nice lingering finish. This is a great whisky. The journey starts simple but enda a lot more interesting.
