Tasting notes
Nose: This is at first very fruity and spicy. There’s orange zest, peppermint, ripe red apples and vanilla together with the easy to recognize Springbank peatiness. The latter sits as a backbone with notes of rubber, tar and burning coal. This all comes together with some darker sherry notes, sweet liquorice and a whiff of milk chocolate.

Mouth: It’s salty, but the main focus is on the fruits. Oranges, lemons, ripe apples and now also some tropical fruits are added. It’s milder than on the nose and honey and vanilla cover the fruits. It has a very oily texture. The spicyness comes slowly and the oak and the peaty notes lurks in the background. There’s also a copper note detectable on the edges.

Finish: There’s a burst of peat smoke at first. When it settles it gets replaced with a complex array of fruitiness with a mix of darker fruits, red berries and fresh tropical fruits. There’s a salty note on top. The oak is savory and comes through together with the rubber and tar notes. The oakiness is very laid back and let’s the rest of the complexity shine. The finish is almost like a sangria, with red wine, spices and a lot of different fruits and berries.

Additional information
This whisky is distilled 2.5 times and it’s aged in a mix of 60 % american ex-bourbon oak barrels and 40 % european ex-sherry casks. It’s unchillfiltered and has natural colour.

Nose: Soft sweet fruits, vanilla, dust, pleasant and rounded, feint smell of Apple juice.

Taste: Smooth, a bit dusty, some spices on the tip of the toungue, sweetness, dry oak.

Finish: Spices intensify, nice lasting dry oak flavour, hint of vanilla intertwined with the oak. A hint of apple comes and goes.

Additional information
The Glenlivet 15 YO is matured for 12 years in ex-bourbon barrels and ex-sherry casks and then finished for 3 years in new limousin french oak barrels.

Tasting notes
Nose: This is fruity and floral. At first there’s a thick layer of red apples, vanilla and marzipan. On top there’s a cloud of menthol and flowers. There’s a honey sweetness starting out in the back but then moves forward on the edges as time goes by in the glass. There’s a sweet liquorice note coming through as well. Overall it feels very rich and mild without any sharp or pointy edges. This is a fairly straight forward nose but it’s very pleasant and welcoming.

Mouth: It starts out with a lemon note in the back and a sweet maltiness up front. The fruity and floral elements are still in there but they are reduced and have left the spotlight. It’s a sweet and sour mix with a bitter tang in the back. It’s quite mild even though it presents a slight ABV spicyness after a few seconds. It’s just as sweet as on the nose and there’s nothing especially interesting happening at this point except for the sweetness moving forward a bit.

Finish: The honey sweetness flare up out on the edges before the center core starts to come through. Here the apples and the floral notes return as well as the maltiness. It’s still mild with a soft layer of menthol hovering above everything else. It stays consistant for quite a while before everything dies down and leave room for the oakiness. It’s a nice enough oak but it’s quite generic. In the tail end of the finish the marzipan note makes a quick revisit. This is a great whisky with a lot of nice flavours. It’s not a whisky to explore, it’s a whisky to enjoy.

Additional information
This is the first release from ”The Original Stories” series. It’s matured for in a mix of ex-bourbon barrels and european ex-sherry casks. It’s unchillfiltered.

Tasting notes
Nose: This is dark and complex. At first there’s a sharp layer of nail polish remover sitting on top of a dark raisins and overripe plum fruitiness. In the beginning there’s a certain unpleasant vibe to the whole which is hard to pinpoint. A mixed wood note comes through with both pine and oak. After it settles down the nail polish remover disappears and leaves a menthol cloud floating around. After a long wait there are notes of mixed dried fruits and berries, leather and tobacco taking over. There’s also a sweetness hiding behind the fruits. This is a nose which at first feels very weird. The lack of sweetness really makes it sharp and one-dimensional. This changes a lot with time in the glass and when it settles it’s quite nice.

Mouth: It starts out with a pine and oak note surrounding a dark and sweet center. It’s got a nice spicyness to it. The center part brings black coffee, dried fruits and tobacco together with a nice salted caramel note. It’s dark and slightly inaccessible and the absense of sweetness is tangible but after a good 20 minutes in the glass it balances itself out and becomes quite lovely. There are some damp and dusty notes in the background which reflects the age, but the dark and bitter center part is not giving away the limelight easily. It’s quite nutty as well. For those who wait there’s a salty sensation arising from within and the texture is absolutely to die for.

Finish: The spicyness becomes a mild chili heat but never spikes through the transition. The fruitiness is not as dark as before and the start of the finish is really complex and interesting. It’s still a mix of dried fruits, salty butterscotch, black coffee, leather and tobacco. There’s a nice nutty side to it with walnuts leading in to the oakiness. It’s a mellow oak which is slightly dry. This is a great Jekyll and Hyde whisky. Which one you get depends on how long you wait before you approach the glass.

Additional information
This whisky is supposedly ”small batch distilled”. There are ex-sherry casks involved in the aging, but no cask types are disclosed. It’s unchillfiltered and has natural colour.

This was tasted at a whisky festival. No tasting notes were recorded. The impression was that this is a sweet and fruity whisky with a lot of dark fruit notes mixed of a sticky sweetness with toffee, honey and vanilla.

Additional information
This whisky was distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2020. It’s aged in an ex-bourbon hogshead and finished in a first fill ex-PX sherry cask. Cask No 301290. The bottle tried was 124/274. It’s unchillfiltered and has natural colour.

This was tasted at a whisky festival. No tasting notes were recorded. The impression was that this is a sweet and round whisky with a lot of dark and dried fruit notes from the port cask mixed of toffee, honey and vanilla together with a hint of seaweed. It felt a bit top heavy and unbalanced.

Additional information
This whisky was distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2019. It’s aged in an ex-bourbon hogshead and finished in a first fill ex-Ruby port cask. Cask No 8645. The bottle tried was 214/282. It’s unchillfiltered and has natural colour.

This was tasted at a whisky festival. No tasting notes were recorded. The impression was that this is a sweet, fruity and quite floral whisky with a mix of malt, honey and vanilla together with violets and a tropical fruitiness. It felt younger and fresher than the age spent in the cask.

This whisky was distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2021. It’s aged in a refill barrel; No 167096. The bottle tried was 101/155. It’s unchillfiltered and has natural colour.

Tasting notes
This was tasted at a whisky festival. No tasting notes were recorded. The impression was that this is a sweet and malty whisky with a mix of malt, honey and vanilla. Liquorice, oak and an assorted fruits note are in there as well. The sweetness leans towards butterscotch/toffee. The low ABV doesn’t help it along and makes it a bit too mild.

This whisky was first aged for ten years in american oak barrels and then finished in ex-Ruby Port pipes. This is from batch 3 of the Wood Finish Range. It’s unchillfiltered and has natural colour.

It’s got a very typical flavour profile for an indian whisky.

This was tasted at a whisky festival. No tasting notes were recorded. The impression was that this is a sweet and malty whisky with a mix of toffee and apples as the main feature. It’s got a nice chili spicyness and some vanilla, honey and baking spices as well. It’s very straight forward and lacks a bit of complexity which makes it a bit uninteresting.

This whisky was distilled in 2004 and then aged in both american and european refill oak casks. It’s part of diageo’s special releases from 2021.

Tasting notes
This was tasted at a whisky festival. No tasting notes were recorded. The impression was that this is a light and fruity whisky with a mix of high impact yellow pears and some tropical fruits. It’s sweet and malty as well. It felt too young for its age and lacked a bit of body. It had a slight cardboard note in the background. It’s still a good whisky but one could expect a bit more of this.

This whisky was distilled in 1999 and then aged in refill american oak hogsheads and butts. It’s part of diageo’s special releases from 2017. 5352 bottles were released.

This was tasted at a whisky festival. No tasting notes were recorded. The impression was that this is a liquorice/anis heavy whisky with a very distinctive character. It comes through as almost being infused with herbs and baking spices. The sweetness comes through as brown sugar and dark syryp.

Additional information
This whisky was aged bespoke casks which was put together at the distillery. The types aren’t disclosed. It’s unchillfiltered and has natural colour.

This was tasted at a whisky festival. No tasting notes were recorded. The impression was that this is a mix of fruity and sweet, with a subdued layer of darker fruits and oranges with a malty sweetness at the center. It felt a bit spirity to be 15 years old.

This is the 9th and last release in Diageo’s Game of Throne series. It’s aged in a mix of first fill ex-sherry Casks and finished in ex-bourbon barrels.
